The Actors

Who are these actors? I checked IMDB and none of them have appeared in any films after "The Manson Family". Most of them have zero history of acting. Where did they come from? Where are they now?

This is just a weird movie; very disjoined and difficult to follow. The 60's scenes were interesting but I thought the 1996 storyline with the goth junkie kids was stupid and distracting. I guess they're trying to show Manson's influence on society decades later but it was totally unneccessary.

Regarding the 1996 goth junkie kids, yes, that was what the director was aiming for but it didn't work so well. Leslie Orr, who played Patricia Krenwinkel in the film, said that she did not care for that part of the movie. Frankly, I like the style of the film but it could have revealed more from the heavy research the director claims to have done and yielded more accuracy in the events portrayed. Regardless of all these problems I have with the film, I think Van Bebber is quite talented.

most of the actors that Jim got to be in the film were people that Jim met going to film school in the theatre department

Actually the guy who played Jay Sebring, Sage Stallone, is Sylvester Stallone's son and he has been quite a few movies.

reply

Samuel Turcotte played Jay Sebring, not Sage Stallone.

The actor who played Jay Sebring was Samuel Turcotte...Sage Stallone's voice was used to overdub Sam's in the film.
Just clearing that up.

reply

was there a reason for that?

reply

Yes,
Jim and Sam Turcotte had somewhat of a "falling out" after the Jay Sebring sequences were shot for the Tate murders scenes. Jim decided to overdub Sam's voice after the fact. He used Sage because they are friends and because Sage's voice fit.

thanks for clearing it all up!

Actually, I did my bit for "The Manson Family" before I did my small role in "My Sweet Satan." Anyway, the actors in "The Manson Family" were, as mentioned elswhere on this thread, primarily theater students at Wright State University, along with other local actors of the community theater variety, such as myself. Some, but not all of us, have continued acting in one venue or another. Me, I've had a number of professional gigs, including local dinner theater, murder mystery dinner theater, educational presentations, and the like. Also had a decent role in an indie film shot in Cincinnati in 2006/7 that has yet to be released.

But, yes, I still need to hold down a "real" job to get by.

Also, a number of the actors were patrons of the Southern Belle Tavern and various characters around Dayton, Ohio.

the "Actors"!?? give me an effing break. They were all inept. I've seen better "acting" in junior high musicals.
