Relevance of the title

THOSE WHO LOVE ME CAN TAKE THE TRAIN

(SPOILERS) the fact that very few take the train back proves that not as many people really loved Jean Baptiste as first thought. The film has an engrossing campness about it which i found very clever. It was sensitive and very clever

the train represented the way people in society are trained to do certain things, and the title was saying, like, if you're not lookin' to take the train, don't even take the train the train is not ment to be took. a'ight? that's just what it's gonna be like, that's the *beep* that's always maybe ten minutes away from the boardhouse, abandonment, and seashells.

The title comes from filmmaker Francois Reichenbach, who was the inspiration for the story. When he was dying in the hospital co-scriter (and director in her own right) Danielle Thompson came to visit him. He told her that he was making plans for his funeral and that he decided that was going to be buried in the family plot in Limoges. Thompson was taken aback at first, because she realized her old friend was really going to die. Then she decided to joke it away: "Oh Francois, why do you want to be buried in Limoges? All your friends are in Paris. Limoges is so far away." To which Reichenbach replied "Those who love me can take the train."

Wasn't that written into the dialogue-somewhere in the middle? Pretty sure it was in the subtitles but I don't remember the exact scene. I think it's actually a thought provoking sentiment but an unweildy movie title.

I didn´t know it was based on François Reichenbach´s words
- very moving
