Sequel... (I wish)

Wouldn't it be awesome? I've been in love with this movie for years. You literally have to see the movie 3 times to catch on to everything. The songs are great and the humor is priceless. How adorable it would be to see the characters now and maybe the kittens... ? ^,^ Too bad...

You know, I'm actually with you on that.

You see, to introduce myself, I'm a 14 year old reading, writing, movie loving girl who has no hope in the real world. My favorite movie is Cars, rising from the ashes of the flames from my old favorites Star Wars and Monsters Inc, and Pirates of the Caribbean for one short month. But before the lightsabers and monsters and sword fights, there was a different me. A girl who loved to watch The Great Mouse Detective, and Cats Don't Dance.

When I first saw this movie, my favorite character was Danny. I still remember a dream I had where all the characters from this movie were showing me around Hollywood. But, I loved every minute of it. And, I wish that there would be a sequel. It left so many things unexplained.

Kittens? Cute...we'd need a new villian though...

I LOVE THAT MOVIE! You will probably say I'm crazy and to get a life, well then some CDD fan YOU are! Truth is I can't live without this movie. I cried the first few times I saw the part in the movie when Sawyer found Danny's list and cried too and I almost cried when I found a deleted song from Cats Don't Dance today. I have resently had a dream that we were at the movies and we saw a preview for a Cas Don't Dance 2!

If there is ever a Cats Don't Dance 2, expect a brown haired girl with copper eyes dressed like Sawyer at the front of the line:)

You mean from An American Tail? Yup! I love most animated movies!

That movie pretty much made me the man I am today.

Alas, not only has it been about 13 years since this movie came out, but I don't think enough people or the Warner Bros. studio care about this movie to make a sequel. Otherwise, I think it would have a good one.

Be very careful what you wish for...you never know if a sequel will turn out to be good, I mean look at the Brave Little Toaster, Ferngully, and Secrect of NIMH..damn, Secret of NIMH 2: Timmy to the Rescue? When you hear the word "Rescue" in the title to your favorite movie that means it's a sequel, you totally know it's going to be the worse and most unfaithful POS that'll urinate on your childhood.

I like this movie some-what, not saying I don't love the animation or the music. Though it was a no-brainer children's flick that did perserve a good message about never letting up on your dream until it comes true, and it seemed to make some statements that could be equal to racism which made it interesting, and as an atheist it's backdrop (movie projects) were too biblical to me...so I can't really say it wasen't deep, but it's not the Brave Little Toaster.

Subway sold toys for Cats Don't Dance?

Pudge.

If I had gotten those toys when the movie came out, my childhood would have been complete.

Was this film poorly marketed or something?

I guess I'm lucky I came across this movie as a kid. I first saw it with my cousins when they rented it, and I wanted to see it again but I didn't get to until my dad got it for me the next Christmas.

Like someone said, be careful what you wish for concerning sequels because they're not always very good. Not that it would been the case for Cats Don't Dance, but we can't be sure.

OMG, don't even get me started on Fox and the Hound 2...Seriously, what is with those writers that think calling midquels sequels is a good idea?! I mean, I hated the titles for Tarzan 2 and Bambi 2, but at least the movies themselves weren't bad. Tarzan 2 was okay, and Bambi 2 had a very heartwarming story between a father and son. And at least they both took place in the events of the first movie.

The same cannot be said for Fox and the Hound 2. It's bad enough that its midquel story was stupid, contrived, and absolutely pointless, but what makes it even worse was that there is NO WAY it would have happened in the events of the first film. I think it's safe to say it's the worst Disney sequel ever made (at least in my book).

Well, who knows? I did wish for a sequel as a kid, and I think they could have been capable of making a good one. I wish Cats Don't Dance would have been much more successful, not just so it would have had the sequel, but mainly because it deserved that success.

In my book, the top three worst Disney sequels are:

Fox and the Hound 2
Mulan 2
Jungle Book 2

I liked how she was a take on Shirley Temple as well! Shirley Temple was really the sweet kid in real life as she was portrayed onscreen, so it was funny how that was turned on its head for shock value.

Really? I have heard nothing but good things about her in real life.

That's what I meant. She was a sweet little girl in real life.
