I really liked the villain in this movie.

Seriously, how could people think Darla was making fun of Shirley Temple? That was not the intention whatsoever. She was one of the most fun parts of the movie, and I think had the best song besides that Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now song.

Also, I just rewatched this film on Youtube, and a thought occurred to me: you just don't see that whole "screen fadeout to black, but you can still see the villain's eyes for a bit" much anymore. I miss animated movies like this. To grow up in the '90s is a fantastic thing.

The ongoing WOW is happening right NOW.

It's probably a reference to an urban legend that circulated when Temple was at her height. It said that she was really an adult dwarf who hated children and animals. But yep, she is meant to be a Shirley Temple parody and there's nothing wrong with that. The joke is that the sickeningly cute and sweet child star is really a vain, angry, racist brat. It might also reference What Ever Happened To Baby Jane - which shows a child star who has an angelic image, but is really an obnoxious brat.

And her singing voice is Cory's sister Morgan from Boy Meets World, played by Lindsay Ridgeway.
