Australian budgets for films

Okay I think we are all forgetting one important word and that is BUDGET. Australian and New Zealand films generally have a shoe string budget compared to Hollywood and yet respectable films are still produced. If we had the same budgets as Hollywood there would be no telling what 'great' films could be made.

hey gilly (Best Australian Cricketer)! I think your absolutely right. This film was made in 1997 (to my surprise) yet the filmography looks as if it was the 80's sorta film were're watching. Take Wolf Creek for example (great movie) yet the budget let it down. We were'nt able to broadcast it to the major buying countries (America & England) because our budget was so low but our acting abilities in Australian shine out to the rest of the world. These great actors include (Nicole Kidman, Hugo Weaving, Hugh Jackman & ?Mel Gibson?). Our film workings in Australia are hugely underrated around the world & can only tightly drip into the American public when their mostly watching *beep* movies that wouldn't never get off the ground in Australia! Its a good topic to talk about because in our day & age most of our directors move to LA (Los Angeles) & make epic films that go onto win oscars. The only exception is Lord Of The Rings by Peter Jackson because that was just able to hit the wider audiences all around the world. PS Go Adam Gilchrist in the WORLD CUP!

Personally, I think the Australians make better movies on their smaller budgets.
