A Wonderful Surprise

I saw this on a Netflix stream and it is one of the best gay-themed films I've seen recently (they are few and far between.) The performances were remarkably good, the production values much better than expected, and the very talented cast and crew obviously gave their heart and soul. It's available on DVD and I'll be happy to add this to my collection.

Other posters on this film commented that a lack of distribution hurt this film. It's more than that, it's that movies about gay men rarely cross into general acceptance, and then only when they end badly (ie: Brokeback Mountain.) This is a joyous story, well told, and Netflix gets kudos for making it available.

It kinda reads like people were sloppy in distributing the film, as if that would be easy. Unfortunately gay movies are not really what the general public wants, so why would a distributor want to put a lot into distributing a film they know won't sell? The only one with a claim to fame in this movie is Mara Hobel from "Mommie Dearest" and that alone is a claim to supercamp fame that is not sufficient unfortunately.
I would have liked for this movie to be more known, but it's like it's way down on the list of gay movies.
