You're quite right. I thought Nigel Havers might be able to pull this off, so kept watching until he appeared. When it became clear even he couldn't save this expensive looking clunker, I turned off.
It's a shame, because they'd hired some generally good actors, and built an impressive set. Somehow, it came across as live action role players walking through a themed hotel in Las Vegas.
This has to be one of the stupidest movies I've ever attempted to watch. "themed hotel" is a good phrase. I though it looked like a casino. I watched for 30 minutes and had to quit. The anamolies are so massive, you'd think it was a parody or farce rather than an attempt at a serious movie. I've just wasted a half-hour of my life.
Just because someone doesn't like a movie doesn't mean poor acting has anything to do with it. Remember there is always a director with a vision. TV movies are not ever on a par with those released in theaters. I loved Lost Horizon but the original black and white version the best. If you don't like the over all story you shouldn't have watched the movie. Old habits die hard and it was very well portrayed in the film. I recognized what it was right away. It's not Cameron or Spielberg but it wasn't as bad as some are saying here. I really don't know what people expect.
What I expect is that James Hilton's name would at least appear somewhere in the credits which as far as I can tell it does not. Some will say that for Hilton this is a blessing but I'm still surprised.
I am an #ISIS member and I order you to please behave. Yes, we have access into IMDb system, view IP of posts, trace to ISP and finally the address location. So, apologize right now. This is a film of the 90s and films of that era are different than current hi-tech films. There is nothing wrong with this movie.
