Why no wedding bands in the last scene?

Both claim to be married with kids, but neither has a wedding band. Makes me wonder of Monica (Salma) started showing off pictures of her nieces when things looked to be moving in a direction she knew better than to get into.

I only saw the last half of the movie, and I thought Salma was playing a shrew. Unfortunately, Russell Crowe's character didn't respond ala mode "Taming of the Shrew" which might have made a better movie. For supposedly intelligent characters, they didn't seem to have arguments based on differing philosophies of life. It appeared that she was a wedding obsessed woman, who wasn't subtle enough to manipulate her man when he had some cold feet. Russel Crowe seemed like he didn't want to play it the way he did. At the end, if Salma's character would have tried to bed Russell again, because that's how those type of women are, if the script was true. They feel this sense of deprivation or entitlement that attracts them to those they can't have.

Maybe Salma could get a part in the next Master and Commander movie, if there is one, and have it out with Captain Jack.

Okay, I know the movie's almost 10 years old, but c'mon.

"Okay, I know the movie's almost 10 years old, but c'mon."

C'mon what? [Edit -- OH - I just realised the OP put a spoiler in the subject... I guess I didn't mind that, but yeah, I'm sure some ppl would.]

The OP's question is a very good one. I haven't seen the movie but I've got a good idea about how it all plays out.

So now I'm guessing [this is a SPOILER thread, right?] that they run into each other at the end after having finally broken up for good. Both claim to be married now yet neither is wearing a wedding ring, thus we could probably figure out for ourselves they are both lying!

I think if that's the case, then it makes for an intriguing ending.
