This Movie is Underrated!

I haven't voted for a movie on imdb in a while, but I think I'll give this one at least a 9 after seeing again last night. I originally saw it probably the year after it was released, circa 1998. Liked it then, and it ages nicely (cell phone thing is dated obviously, but heck, that could happen today in the desert with an iPhone, the lack of reception).

Anyway, after being taken by a date to see "Don't Breathe" in theatres last weekend, and being disappointed in that film, I was in the mood for a good thriller and for some reason this movie popped in my head. This is how you do a thriller!

This movie is tense, and well executed. The late JT Walsh was such a great villain. The other bad dude in the pickup was pretty scary as well.

Kurt Russell was great, and pretty much reacted like any of us would in that situation. The casting director nailed it on this film.

I did play a little armchair QB this time around (like shoot out those tires in the barn of the other vehicles! Shoot JT Walsh's character in the knees and feet and hands so he can' come running or chasing after you!) But, given Russell's character's circumstances, it's believable he just wanted to get the hell out of there as fast as possible. Plus, shooting the tires out, etc, wouldn't have left much for an ending, I guess, either.

I agree with you, it is underrated.
But I also liked Don't Breathe as well

It's extremely underrated, I love it. The 90s had so many good movies that are way underrated. The 80s & 90s are my two favorite decades for movies. I love movies like this one.

Saw this movie tonight for the first time and I liked it very much. And i'm not even a fan of thriller/action movies!
But this one kept me interested, it was tense, good pace, nothing wrong with the acting.
Right now it's a 6.9 on here, but i'd give it an 8.
So I agree it is underrated.

Saw it years ago, and it made serious impact with an almost unbearable intensity. Not unlike the 'Hitcher' where you really long for the extermination of the bad guy(s). Kurt Russel was seriously good , despite usually playing larger than life characters in action-movies..
