Rating???

I don't think this film had a rating, but could someone who's seen it tell me about the content, and what age it would be suitable for? Thanks.

Yeah, I need to know too if anyone knows because I am under 17 or 18 whatever the age is for R rated movies....But I hope this one is PG-13 because I LOVE Johnny Depp but most of his movies are rated R.....boo hoo......So yeah if anyone knows??!!?!

I think most people under 18 could watch this movie. There is some cussing, but I don't remember any nudity, and the violence is just in a few parts, and usually not very graphic. Some younger people might not get all of it, though.

Because it's never been released in North America I don't know what it would be released here as. The F word is used several times, esp. by the character Luis. Some wierd scenes in the bar and there is a graphic fight scene near the end. There is also a love scene (which is actually very tender and beautiful, with a tiny amount of nudity). Hope this helps.

It is an uneven movie. The beginning 25 mins. were not great. Then it gets much better. I thought the scenes that dwell on the family and their interaction, and those with the priest, are done very well. It is also a sad movie. So you are warned.

Do you think i would be able to buy it in Canada???

if released in the U.s. it would most definitely be R. there is very heavy use of the F word in one part that Johnny is not even in so its not a really good part anyway. as someone said before, there is a beautiful love scene with a quick flash of nudity. but other than that one part with the f word, its not really that bad. its a great movie, a beautiful display of a man's love for his family. i would definitely recommend this movie to any Johnny Depp fan!

I don't remember any nudity. What part of the movie is it during?

reply

I'd say it'd definitely be R, mostly because of the one scene of strong violence towards the end, plus the profanity, plus one other scene with a bit of violence, and what here in Australia we'd call "Adult Themes". I don't recall any nudity though.

Strangely, here in Australia, it's classified MA (most R rated movies get an M rating, which is the next softest rating) for High Level Violence, Medium Level Coarse Language, and Adult Themes. The High Level Violence is especially surprising, as it usually takes something very substantial to get this here, and I don't recall "The Brave" having much.

I'd not recommend this film to anyone under 18 as the basis of the story is someone agreeing to give their life up in a snuff film, which is certainly an adult theme. Although you don't actually see anything of this, when they show torture instruments you do get the idea. Also, the fight scene is pretty gruesome too.

the nudity is when they go up the mountain to make love. when she starts taking off her dress, you just barely catch a glimpse of her nipple and then a few minutes later, you can see her silhouette, but thats not really nudity.
