Korean dvd version is missing 26 minutes

If you have the Korean version of this movie, please be aware that there are two large cuts that have been made. The first is a 20 minute cut that occurs right after Rafael returns to Morgantown and sits up on the garbage dump watching his family's trailer. In the Korean version this is immediately followed by Rafael urging his wife and children to come see the lights and merry go round he has built. About 8-10 scene changes have been deleted when the Korean version is compared against a region 2 (European dvd) release. Another 6 minute cut occurs later in the movie. It is possible to see the region 2 version online. A group of us are trying to get a more complete version of the movie released in the US. Leave a message if you are interested.

I just rented this movie over here in Korea as well. This copy of the DVD seemed to leave out a scene in which Rafeal hurts his hands. I don't even know how it happened. Could someone explain?

Can anyone actually describe the story content in the missing 26 minutes? I think the copy I saw was cut as well. (And since it was a VCD I couldn't ascertain the exact running time.) I read the novel a long time ago, but couldn't remember anything specific that was left out of the movie (or this version of the movie).

Can someone please explain why his hands are wrapped up. Seems all of a sudden his hands are bandaged with no explanation.

I would love to see this film but I don't know where to start. Where is the best place to find it and watch it? I live in the US btw.

Son of a bitch! I just bought the Korean dvd and noticed an odd edit at that part. Came here to see if anyone had said anything, lo and behold it's the *beep* cut version of the flick. Why was it cut for the Korean market? Could someone tell me the content of the missing 26 minutes? That's a big damn chunk of time. As it is, the film is really hurt by having him just appear with this carnival for his family. Is the missing footage about him acquiring this stuff?

Ugh. This really needs an official region one release. Depp, I know you were hurt by the negative reviews at Cannes. Get over it. Clearly this was a very personal project for you, so put it out there. Be proud of what you made, warts and all. I'm sure Criterion or Kino or some company would kill to distribute this flick.
