Question about the army checkpoints.

What's the point of soldiers checking their identity if they can't control whether they should be let through? An did the army really shut off parts of Belfast like it's portayed in the movie?

reply

The checkpoints there are to regulate the crowds not control them. They check ID's to confirm people have them and they are who they claim to be as if they didn't have one or it was fake it would be fishy.

Good guys may not finish last but they sure as sh*t don't finish first!

Oh I see. Thanks. They sure didn't put an end to shooting sprees and car bombs.

No but to be fair they weren't supposed to. I think a lot of people think of the peace line as similar to the Berlin wall or something like that, but it was only a divide in certain areas of Belfast it wasn't a constant line dividing the city.
