Questions about this movie (spoilers)

Okay I saw this on Lifetime.

Just really one question though.

When Chris is talking on the phone to his "mom" during the last hour of the movie, why does she call him "little brother"? I went back over the scene with closed caption to make sure and he does say "mom" at the start of the phone call and she calls him "little brother".

Also on the credits on the imdb page here, it says Seann William Scott is in this but I don't remember seeing him. Is he in this movie?
