If you don't appreciate this scene you do not like cinema.

It's odd, I've seen the movie, but don't remember that scene at all.
shareyou must have been crazy high to forget that scene...
shareIf a movie is longer than two hours, even if I sat through the whole thing, there are parts I won't remember. I'm pretty sure this is true of every movie longer than two hours (as long as I've only seen it once) regardless of any intoxicants.
shareThat scene is the epitome of tension. So well crafted with so much going on to add to it, from the firecrackers, the crazy coked out guy, the obvious uncomfortableness of the guys wondering if/when he's going to realize they were scamming him, and the buildup of a cheesy 80's ballad. It's the defining moment of Anderson's career.
shareYeah, good point jekporkims. Iām with you on this.
shareI can appreciate PT Anderson's penchant for imping Martin Scorsese throughout this movie and making his own, but I'm also glad he discontinued this style with subsequent films. The same can't be said for other directors like Guy Richie or even Quentin Tarantino. In QT's case he really misses his editor who sadly passed away from cancer. Her impact on framing together QT's work was very noticeable.
shareYes that scene was great
shareI MISS YOU BUCKSWOPE.š
shareI actually fast-forwarded through that scene because of the firecrackers (or whipper-snapers or whatever the F it was). Couldn't stand the sound. Too loud and annoying for me. And seemingly completely unnecessary as far as I could tell.
