A Perfect 10!

This must have been the best film of all time dealing so deeply with man and woman's sexuality.
This is a film that can really change your life.
It sort of changed mine when I first viewed it some 3-4 years ago.
Apart from the child sexual abuse problem,it deals with a lot of views from the eastern and western schools of sexology and psychology,
all centered around the couple and the real sources of their sexual problems.
A must see for every couple,married or not,but also singles.
A view of this film must be equal to 100 visits to a sexologist!
There is so much sensuality in this film that literally electrifies the hair of your skin...
There are some dialogue lines in there that shatter sexual taboos and will stick in your head for years.
I'm amazed it has drawn practically no attention and that this Lance Young guy hasn't directed or scripted anything ever since.. :(
At last it is available on DVD in Europe,so I'll have the chance to view it properly soon.

Gimme "Eyes Wide Shut", "sex, lies and videotape" and "Closer" anytime.

"Eyes Wide Shut" dealt with voyeurism and jealousy.

"Sex Lies and Videotape" also dealt with voyeurism.

"Closer" was strictly about jealousy and cheating.

There seems to be a theme with the above author, and that lying is beeter than truth in a relationship, at least in a man's eye, according to these movies he picked.

"Bliss" made me see many things from the side of a woman's perspective towards their feelings towards love, self, etc.

Definitely better than the other three, and it's a positive movie, 100%.

I wrote a long essay on the three films I mentioned for a Psychology class last semester (which I'd post here had I registered it), and they're so much layered than how you described them and this "Bliss". Just because lying, voyeurism and cheating are deeply discussed and analyzed in those films doesn't mean I think 'lying is better than truth in a relationship' - talk about a biased comment!

That said, we cannot deny there are people just like that, and we all have personal flaws that won't dissipate by being ignored. I think that considering "Bliss" a richer film is ridiculous, but then again, to each his own - you're entitled to your opinion, and I can't or want to change that.

I like the analogy proposed by surfer312 but I would counter that its not the prospective between man and woman but instead the difference between visual cues and emotional cues. The different directors direct the viewers down different paths and I think the feeling vs visual components largely describe the difference of the two themes.

It may not be *quite* on the level of Eyes Wide Shut but in terms of audacity, it blows Closer and sex, lies & videotape out of the water.

I thought this was a really good movie, too. I loved how Joseph realized so much about his wife and learned a lot about women and the struggles women may have - they did it all without making women seem weak or having too much baggage in a negative way. Anyway, this was really great and was an eye opener for us!!!

About the only thing I got from this film is that I'm 90% certain an ex-GF was sexually abused from some of the symptoms they talk about in the film. I even googled for more info to back up what I initially thought.
