Question about last scene

I wonder if anybody will ever wander in here and answer this for me...

Why does Joseph speak with such hostility, vituperation, and dismissiveness towards Baltazar in the last scene? After all, Baltazar was only trying to help him, and his wife. Baltazar just smiled in response. I don't get it

reply

There wasn't any hostility in it at all. He is glad Baltazar found someone to love. Joseph questions him on his feelings towards the lady and when he is sattisfied that he is indeed in love, he quotes Baltazar himself, ironically with the "too bad for you".

reply

We are all human, even Baltazar. Instead of "too bad for you," he could have said, "physician, heal thyself." Same message.

I thought when Joseph said to Baltazar "too bad for you", that was great writing and delivery. Schiefer isn't much of an actor, but he did shine well in this flick.
