Worth owning?

I haven't seen this movie, but I really want to. It isn't on the schedule on our movie network so I can't see it on TV first. I'm a big Clive Owen fan and I really appreciate actors who play gay characters, so I was wondering if it worth owning.

If you're a fan of Clive, you should definitely see this film. He gives an incredible performance. I'm a big fan too, and I'm glad I bought it.

I own the film. I'm not a big fan of it, but it's well made and pretty interesting. Clive Owen does a good enough job I'd say. However, the film has some serious flaws. The direction is incredibly stagy. I'm aware that it's based on a play, but it makes the film feel a little artificial. The film also fails at being the depiction of homosexuality set against the holocaust that it could have been by constantly allowing the film to feel more like a crowd pleaser than an honest depiction of the situations that the character find themselves in. The result is a film that gets a bit too flimsy at the end. If the theme of the film were more about the character's sexuality than about the terror of Concentration camps, I think it would have been a more interesting film. Maybe this is because I'm gay or maybe it's because that's what I was expecting the film to be, but instead it just took the play and, instead of adapting or changing it to fit more with the usual feel of a movie, transferred it to film with different actors. It's not a bad film, it's just more of a missed opportunity. Of course, my friends think differently. All of my friends love it. I'm not saying that you won't like it, i'm just stating my opinion.

The film is flawed, but it works very well and there are enough moments of real pathos that certainly make it worth owning. But if you want a 'gay' movie get something else.

It is so worth owning if you're an Owen fan (or even if you're not, for that matter). I would recommend this film 100% for the story, acting, and emotional wreck it turns you into after multiple viewings. LOL
