Lothaire Bluteau was phenomenal!

I originally watched this movie because I am a huge Clive Owen fan. But I really have to say that Lothaire Bluteau stole the show. He was able to emote desparation, resignation, despair, humour and passion all at the same time. I found the movie hard to watch and distressing but Horst's character was the redeeming aspect to the whole movie.

i first saw this film when it came to video and one of the things that stuck with me most all these years was his performance. I bought the dvd awhile ago and finally reluctantly decided to revisit it (as I, too, think it's really hard to watch) and was still blown away. Clive Owen is also amazing, and I had no idea when he became famous and I watched stuff like Sin City that it was the same dude from Bent.

I too thought that Bluteau was magnificient! The chemistry between Owen and he was superb! THOSE scenes would not have worked without it! The end would not have been as poignant!

Horst completely carried the film for me as well. So much pain, sorrow, passion and compassion. I would carry rocks with that man all day just for the pleasure of the three-minute break – and what a break it was!
