Everyone's perception of movies will always range from hating it to loving it. And then there are a bunch of us in the middle. I personally thought this movie was light, cute, funny and still maintained a good story from beginning to end. It maybe a cinderella type story but overall I really loved this movie. I think you also have to generally like Fran as an actress to begin with in order to fully appreciate the movie. Maybe I'm just a hopeless romantic and like these cinderella stories and happy endings. I know I have mentioned this movie to others and they really liked it too. The movie also might appeal to women more than men. Overall, i loved it! I'm been searching everywhere to purchase it here in Canada.

I liked this movie alot, the way the guy looks like (Pachenko) he reminded me of my dad when he was young and also the last name almost sounds like mine which is Pacheco

whitney u r so f/="=! right, some people goes to watch a comedy movie expecting a cinematography masterpiece with possibilities of winning 11 Oscars...I just laugh about them, theres no "Deep Comedy" in the theaters if u wanna watch a very smart comedy watch "Amelie" as I dO when i want to watch something deep but a funny...bye

To me it reminded me of "Sound of Music" with Fran being a different-sort of teach whom changes the gruff father into a kind, nice man. The way he treats the children is the same, although the children in this movie eat breakfast a few tables over from him. His views of the world are different and he runs his house like a dictator and harsh.

When I first saw this movie, I laughed and thought Fran transferred her Nanny character to this movie. Some of the funniest scenes were when Fran pretends she's Evita to the crowd, the scene in the classroom when the father looks at what she's teaching children, and when Fran goes out on the town with the daughter.

You know... not every movie has to be life-changing for the viewer- sometimes it's just nice to watch something & enjoy yourself. This is one of those movies. The kids are adorable, especially Lisa Jakub whom I've always enjoyed watching, and the interest between Drescher and Dalton is very enjoyable to watch. This is just a fun enjoyable movie with not too much on its mind- although the ideas of freedom and lack of government oppression are good bonuses! :)

“The Beautician and the Beast” is a spoof, a send up, a pastiche of all the past romance movies that brought together royalty (or at least nobility) and a commoner: “The King and I,” “The Sound of Music,” “The Prince and the Showgirl.”

That does not mean that it was intended to be like those movies, it was spoofing those movies. And in my estimation, it did a creditable job of what it attempted.

I liked this too...one of those feel good movies. Definitely "Sound of Music" esque.

It reminded me my favorite novel "Jane Eyre" not only in the plot but also
because Timothy Dalton also acted the part of Rochester there. The sound of
music is also another similar story.

I love this movie!!! Brings back memories of when I was a little girl... used to watch this all the time... and I love Timothy Dalton!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a coincidence. I would never have heard of this film if it weren't for an ad I saw on kijiji. They person is asking $1 for it, and it's on VHS. But it's being sold here in London, ON, Canada, so I don't know where you live and if he/she will do paypal for you. Though you'd have to ask.
