This film is really badly written and plotted, but Charlie and company pull it off. Was the originally a cable movie? It felt like one.

reply

No, it wasnt cable movie. It was production to Largo Entertainment and it was originally intended for theatrical release. However in USA go direct to video and in some European countries was released in theaters.

Thanks for the details. I guess a lot of films are made for theatrical release but wind up going straight to video when the prospects change. This is entertaining at least, even though it's not a great film.

Yes, thats true. Sometimes the studios arent happy with the final product and they [originally intended for theaters] go straight to video, but there have some movies that are just made for the straight to video market, especially some sequels that comes from the big studios, but this time the quality doesnt matter and they didnt even try to make it good. They have poor actors, directors and script and they are made just to fool someone and to take his money.

Anyway this movie is entertainment like you said and it have some good and intense scenes.

This is just my perception, but is seems like the whole "straight to video" thing isn't as much an issue anymore because the entertainment industry has become so fragmented – movie theaters, DVD sales and rentals, video streaming, downloads, cable movies and miniseries, hand-made films for sites like YouTube. And when films are released on DVD, they're often different than when (and if) they played in theaters, with added scenes and more "director's cuts" than ever. It just seems like the film industry is at critical mass and there are more titles being released through various means than ever. So much is slipping through the cracks because there's so much out there.

At least this one was released at a time and in a form that it is still remember 14 years later, even if the audience isn't as huge. If this film were released today, I wonder if people would be talking about it in 2025.
