What happened to 4?

I saw an article from last year that says they're still talking about it! I just watched 1 & 2 - they're so freakin' funny! On to 3. Yeah baby.

Goldmember sucked so hard the franchise is over

reply

Goldmember was a big box office success though

So did the remake (known as Spectre) and it sucked, too.

Lmao

If The Love Guru didn’t kill it, the death of Verne Troyer definitely did.

No need for it, probably.

I enjoyed the Austin Powers movies, but by Goldmember it had gotten a bit tired. As funny as the first two were, it was just reusing the same jokes. The second one, my favourite, was taking the same jokes from the first one but twisted them in a way that the catchphrases were still funny. (Dr. Evil still getting the million/billion mixed up, for example.) By the third though, these jokes were tired. A fourth one it would be even worse.

Also, it's been so long since the third one, how well would it go over with modern fans? Everything date eventually. Probably best just leave it now.

It would be too offensive to make the 4th one.

Surprised they never made another one after Goldmember (which was a box office success, despite poor reviews). Has anyone ever asked any of the film’s cast about why there was never another Powers’ film?

At this point though, I think it’s too late. Goldmember, the last one, was nearly 20 years ago. The actors have aged, the public has moved on. If there was a time for a sequel, then 2008 or so would have been it

The joke would have to be around how much time has passed, how old everyone is and how, once again, austin powers is out of touch. It could definitely work.

100 snowflakes on Twitter are too fragile for this series. They control everything now and would never allow a 4th funny movie to be made.
