What did you rate 'Apt Pupil' (1998)?

A high school boy (Brad Renfro) blackmails an old man (Ian McKellen) whom he discovers is a Nazi war criminal.

This excellent adaptation of a Stephen King story grabs you from the beginning and doesn't let go. Ian McKellen gives the kind of performance that only a distinguished veteran of the stage and screen can. The young Renfro keeps up with him, while the director and his team make the most of every shot, every cut. A first-rate piece of storytelling that deserved more praise than it got.
