shareAgreed. I'm an atheist, and there are very well made religious movies. The Last Temptation of Christ and The Apostle are two examples of a handful of great ones.

It's an outstanding film and Duvall's performance was excellent. I'm not at all religious, and I don't think your religious views have anything to do with whether or not you can appreciate this film.
shareI am a Christian and enjoy most Christian movies. For such a movie to succeed it has to walk a fine line of putting out the Christian message and being entertaining. A Christian movie has to avoid the pitfall of being too preachy. Also, it has to be very professionally written, acted, directed, and have good production values. Christian movies are starting to attract actors from the movie industry and they have a successful asset. Some the actors have no opinion at all about Christianity but are interested in the part and want to do projects that they let their children see.I saw on a Christian interview that Robert Duvall spent quite a bit of time consulting with Pentecostal preachers to get into the think process of what his character was thinking. Good Job, Mr. Duvall.
