the thing about that is you have to read in between the lines.
since they met he said that he would get her all the way to play a show a MSG.
if she had cried she probably wouldve broken down and the concert wouldve been over with and thats not what dice would have wanted for her.
as for her singing, did you not realize what she was singing? it was the song that they wrote "together". she was writing the lyrics and he was writing the melody? remember that scene?
so there's more behind her singing that song than anything.
and her speech at the beginning of the song? brilliant!
with the scene when she's reading his letter, even though she didn't break down, she was crying. and that scene made me cry so i really loved that scene. the fact that she didn't break down made the scene not as cliche.
so as an overall, you can't take her not breaking down crying seriously. you have to see the symbolic way in which she tried to remember dice.
i loved this movie. it's one of MY tops.
