The Secret Service during the hijack

The terrorists may have had the advantage of a traitor within the Secret Service. Even so, the Secret Service are piss poor when they probably outnumbered the terrorists. Let's not forget that they would have had additional help from the military personnel on the plane. The President's plane is taken over with relative ease.
