What happened to the fax the president sent from the plane??

They showed it going through, nobody noticed it, what was the point of it? Nobody ever got back to that fax and they acted like it was going to be some kind of life saving message. Was that completely open ended and a mistake, or did I miss something?

It was first ignored but eventually got noticed. That's the reason why the fuel pilot instructed the hijackers to lower their altitude. It wasn't a real requirement to refuel AFO, but it was a must to get the passengers jumping off with the parachutes safely.
