Wonderful Scene Between Clint Eastwood and Ed Harris

Every time I watch this movie the highlight for me is the scene between Clint and Ed Harris. Their little cat and mouse is not only fun to watch but they both genuinely seem to be enjoying the scene. Eastwood's line about being the star of his AARP meetings is priceless as are Ed Harris's reactions. They are both putting each other on and it's great fun to watch from two actors I greatly admire.

Really? It seemed incredibly forced and phony to me.

"Well, this is how I'd do it...but I didn't...but if I did...but I didn't...but if I did...ha ha ha, Ed Harris, I've gotta go to my AARP meeting now, ha ha ha!"

reply

Forced or not, it's always good to know where people get their inspiration from: in this case I think it was OJ who saw the light..."but if I did..."

Yeah that was a definite highlight. It's too bad this movie is so implausible and flawed, because it has hints of greatness.

Ed is so hot in this movie. I couldn't take my eyes off him. I just love everything about him - and he wasn't even the "star". I dont watch this one for Clint Eastwood - I watch it for him.

... And Laura Linney!

I love this one not so much his acting, but for Clint's directing. (Except when he says "Whoa! 119 minutes! Better wrap it up in the next two.")

Yea, I'm a longtime Ed Harris fan, and I loved, absolutely loved the scenes with Ed and Clint together. What fun!!!

I agree with you.
And, most of the movie is, essentially, a Columbo murder mystery with bigger dramatic points.
Makes it even better.

Oddly enough, I am usally a perfectionist when it comes to films, I notice things like people getting on a 737, the take off landing gear is a 747, and the plane landing is a 727. Drives my wife crazy. However, for some reason I enjoy this film, I find the scene in question here really interesting, both me seem to be "cut from the same cloth" and they have respect for each other. They are also very laid back which enhances in my view, the whole scene.

harris' character carries his own roll of tums---that's pretty cool.

As opposed to asking random strangers if he can bum one?
