Big fuss over Benny

Watched 187 again the other day, I haven't seen it for years as it's so hard to get on DVD.

The part with Benny has always confused me....he kills the tagger who is never mentioned again, yet this big hoo-haa when they discover Benny's body (who no rational person would give a *beep* about).

Why was there no big all-school meetings abouut the investigations into the tagger's death, on the same night, in the same square mile as Benny. It wouldn't take Columbo to work out they were linked surely?
