Best actor in the remake

I think George C. Scott is good, but Cobb was so brilliant in the original that I can't give it to Scott.

I gotta say Gandolfini. I thought he was really good.

The cast they picked for this rendition was very good. Lot of familiar faces, and they all did a fine job. I agree Gandolfini was excellent. I think he is one of three performances I particularly enjoyed. The other being Tony Danza (what a jerk!) and Mykelti Williamson. But I think every member of the cast is deserving of praise. Gotta love Hume Cronyn. Sweeney's performance in the 57' version was amazing though. I think they are both wonderful films, and I watch them both quite often.

I think we are about due for a new one (perhaps 2017). 12 Angry Men is a story I think ought to be redone once every generation or so. I'd like to see a new Mutiny on the Bounty as well. Great, timeless stories, that should continue to be told and retold. It's a great way to feature talented actors in roles that are already familiar.

There are tons of actors around today that I think could nail these various roles, and provide a very entertaining experience. The problem is I think they would make too many changes to try to "update it for today's audiences" or some crap like that. The 97' version made a few minor changes, but nothing really drastic other than enhancing the diversity of the jury some. That worked out quite well. The obvious next move is to add a woman to the jury. I'd be all for that, and I know there are talented actresses out there that could pull off such a role in fine style. The problem is, what else would need to change. No matter how the producers progress, somebody will not be happy.

A tougher film to make and to update than I think most people suspect. But I have faith in a lot of contemporary film makers. I hope somebody takes on the project.
