Wow..BLOWN AWAY at how good this was. Especially considering how much I love the original. But I have to say that as crazy as it is, I actually like the remake a bit better. I found the entire cast to be more engaging. George C Scott was intense and Jack Lemmon was outstanding. Just as good as Fonda IMO.
shareNo it's not crazy. I'm also one of those who like this better than the original. It's a phenomenal movie and for me it was Scott who stole the show.
shareIf you're going to do a remake, at least try to bring something genuinely new and original to the table - as Friedkin himself did with Sorcerer 20 years earlier (a remake of Le Salaire de la Peur). A superficial gimmick like replacing white characters with black ones just doesn't cut it.
