No disrespect intended, but you're reaching with your quasi-French interpretation, largely bc those surnames are so recognizably from Dickens and in part bc "murd" is not the pronunciation of "merde" (and if the writer were using faux French to make a joke, surely she would use faux French for all of the syllables, not just one of three -- as in Mare Toddy Pi Air as a phonetic version of the French "merde tas de pierre," which is a translation of "sh-tty stone heap").
