Theme Song

Does anyone know the titel and who wrote the theme song?

reply

I believe it's "Working in a coalmine" by Devo

reply

its by Todd Rundgren, titled "Bang the Drum"

reply

I, too, thought it was "Working In A Coalmine" by Devo.

reply

I thought it was pink floyd - money

I'm pretty sure Clonely is right. I hear that song every Friday on my local radio station and it always reminds me of the show. You'd think IMDb would have it listed in the 'soundtrack' section.

reply

Well which is it? I always thought it was "Working in a Coal mine." Can anyone confirm? I distinctly remember that Devo song and images of a line of people in a coal mine using a pick axe simultaneously.

This website has themes for seemingly all shows and the Devo song was used for Working: http://soundamerica.com/sounds/themes/Television/T-Z/

Ah, mystery solved. Danke.

Definitely "Working in a Coal Mine," definitely the Devo version. But the song goes back to the 1960s. Allen Toussaint wrote it for Lee Dorsey.

Thanks for the info!

You are all right... there was two seasons and the title was different for both. "Working in a coal mine" and "Bang the Drum" were both used as the opening theme song for WORKING. God I loved this show!!!

reply

Oddly enough, the Lee Dorsey version of "Working in a Coal Mine" was used in an episode of the Fred Savage show, "The Wonder Years"
