Why did I have to LOVE the sitcoms that never made it?

OK so I admit it, I am a sitcom addict. Problem is, I always seem to get hooked into the shows that fall under the ax by or before the end of their first season.

Accidentally On Purpose
Stark Raving Mad
Jesse
Veronica's Closet
Less Than Perfect
Good Morning Miami
It's Like, You Know
The Class
Oh Grow Up
Thanks
Union Station
Some of My Best Friends
It's All Relative
Coupling (US) -
(although I am sure I could be killed for liking that one)

So I'm sure that most of these are obscure at this point, and many of you may not have heard of most of them. Maybe I am just way too easily entertained, LOL. Anyone remember any of these?

All except.....

Oh Grow Up
Thanks
Union Station
Some of My Best Friends
It's All Relative

Nothing wrong with liking short lived shows, I hate when I get sucked into long running ones and they peter out halfway through and I have to finish out of obligation.

Try not to take life too seriously, no one gets out alive.

"Thanks" from 1999 (CBS) was hilarious!! A sitcom about pilgrims (filmed before a studio audience) -- the idea was brilliant. But as usual, CBS didn't give it a chance, like "My Big Fat Greek Family" - a sitcom version of the movie (almost the entire original cast). It was hilarious and had great potential. The people who work at these networks should all be fired!!

Funny...I just posted on the other thread...kinda the same thought...lol
I was saying...

I'm so happy that tv guide is offering some 'new' old sitcoms. It's nice to see Veronica's Closet...and the others in the line up...(like Ned & Stacey and Samantha Who) I do hope tv guide channel keeps it up...and offers even more new 'old' series.

I'd love to see ...
Two Guys, A Girl and A Pizza http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0137330/
and maybe...
Caroline in the City http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0111910/
Almost Perfect http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0111877/
Suddenly Susan http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0115376/
Anything But Love http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0096534/
The Naked Truth http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0112090/
Hope & Gloria http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0112006/
Jesse http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0156196/
Ellen http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0108761/
The 5 Mrs Buchanans http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0108775/
Boston Common http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0115115/
The Single Guy http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0112163/

I wish some channel would show these old series.

Suddenly Susan! Loved that show and Caroline in the City, Two Guys a Girl and a Pizza place, etc.

I too was happy when I saw this on TV Guide channel. This (and Model's Inc.) were two tv shows I loved as a kid and was genuinely sad when they ended.

artguylarry...I have the same problem. I used to love Veronica's closet and was so happy to see TVG is running it. I also LOVED The Class...as well as Jesse, Anything But Love, Suddenly Susan, Two Guys A Girl and A Pizza, Ellen, and a lot of the others posters have mentioned.

Whether you like a movie or not doesn't make it good or bad. It's all a matter of opinion.

I loved "it's all relative". It ended too soon.

The problem with this show is that the network (or producers, or writers) RUINED it starting with the second season! Adding Alec (Ron Silver) was a huge mistake. His character was extremely unlikable and ruined the whole show. Perhaps they thought they'd add a "sexual tension" thing like on Cheers with Sam. It didn't work. When THAT failed miserably, they added June to the 3rd season (killing off Alec). It got WORSE. She played the typical dumb blonde, and almost every single line on the show was predictable from ALL characters. Had they left the show alone...it could have run at least 5 years. This is a classic example of "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"

Have to agree with tomtkh about the seasons 2 & 3, another sitcom that met a similar fate which I liked was Nurses. I also liked Caroline in the City too.

Thank you to everyone on this topic for the suggestions on things to watch. I too love sitcoms and I was a fan of several of the shows people have listed however the majority of those mentioned in this topic. I haven't heard of or seen. I will check them all out

Dork that I am, I loved every sitcom on that list too, and half of 'em reran of USA's short-lived USAM block (along with "Fired Up" and "The Naked Truth," which you didn't cite). As for "Coupling," it might've stood a chance if they hadn't blatantly copycatted the British show; the one completely original episode was pretty funny and one line still sticks in my mind (a guy buys a Hummer and later exclaims, "Oh my God, I bought myself a small penis car!").

The trouble with "Veronica's Closet" was partially the retooling -- they made a horrendous mistake adding Ron Silver. Personally, I loved June and season 3, and if they'd kept the show on Thursday night, it would've gotten a fourth season. Thing was, NBC was going through sitcoms like toilet paper at the time. They'd launch them on "Must-See TV Thursday" after "Friends," declare the shows hits and then move them to another night and retool 'em. Only two shows managed to survive the continuous time changes: "3rd Rock from the Sun" and "Just Shoot Me." Compounding matters was what was going on at ABC, namely Regis Philbin. "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" got huge ratings, which not only killed the competitors, but ABC was so enamored with the show that they cleared thier own sitcom schedule to run it five nights a week (b-bye to the brilliant "It's Like... You Know!").
