Decades episodes

Does anyone else remember when the 4 shows on TGIF had an episode that focused on a different decade? Boys Meets World was the '40s, You Wish was the '50s, Sabrina was the '60s, and Teen Angel was the '70s. Are these episodes on You Tube by any chance?

yeah i was just thinking about that! i was watching sabrina the teenage witch on abc family a week or two ago and the 60s episode was on and made me remember how they'd made all four shows into decade episodes. i really couldn't tell you very much but any of the other three episodes, since i only saw them once, the one thing i really remember is that in the teen angel one the main character walks into the disco, and i think sabrina says she's a witch or something, and he's like 'yeah right, are you tellin me there are witches, and genies, and boys who meet worlds?' or something like that... yeah anyway, just some random thoughts.

you wish...man, even as a kid i hated that show. but it's funny that they still show reruns of boy meets world regularly and every now and then the 40s episode comes on. and im sure to anyone who didnt see that night, it makes no sense at all and the fact there is a talking cat must have really been confusing.

the boy meets world episode had to do with corey and i think sean going to WWII and corey gad amnesia and was living in paris

reply

wasn't their two boy meets world ones?

the one where corey gets amnesia and the one with the murder mytery when their cleaning out the back of the cupboard

We interrupt this program to annoy you and make things generally irritating

haha yes I remember. It started when Salem ate the witches Time Ball or something in the episode of Sabrina which aired at the beginning of the night... It ended with him running out the door of their home... That was the end of the episode of Sabrina which then went into the episode of Boy Meets World, You Wish, and Teen Angel.

They filmed an alternate ending of Sabrina which they now play with the episode in reruns at the last few moments where the aunts discuss "Thank God we caught Salem" or something like that.. Originally it ended with Salem running out because it was to be rapped up in the other shows that night.

Yes, it was part of one of the lame network theme nights, and it was dubbed "The TGIF Time Warp." It first aired in November '97; they reran it the following summer but flip-flopped "Boy Meets World" and "You Wish" (which caused some continuity issues with the opening scenes). It was actually the last episode of "You Wish" that aired before the show was canceled (though they ran the unaired episodes and a few reruns the next summer). Don't think they're online anywhere, but here's a breakdown:

On Sabrina, Hilda complained that Zelda threw away her hip-hugger bell-bottoms, so Sabrina concocts a "time ball" that changes her surroundings to the 1960s so she can purchase a new pair of jeans for her aunt. Unfortunately, the time ball smells like sardines, so Salem eats it and proceeds to watch a "Mod Squad" marathon, which warps everyone back to the '60s. The episode originally ended with Salem darting out the door and hitching a ride in a hippie caravan; the presumably stoned driver thought Salem was telepathically communicating with him.

In "Boy Meets World," Salem winds up roaming the halls of the school. Following Feeney's lecture on World War II, Corey picks up Salem to pet him and wonders aloud what life was like in the '40s. Suddenly it's the '40s. The boys go off to war where Corey is seemingly killed after asking Sean to marry Topanga should he die. Turns out Corey merely has amnesia, and he comes to the conclusion he's French. I was never particularly a fan of "BMW," but this episode was more moronic than most. The episode ended with Salem going to L.A., and he winds up on the back-lot of the TV studio, making stupid references to Drew Carey and other then-current ABC shows.

"You Wish" began with Salem trying to get Felix the Cat a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He bursts into the Apple's home with a petition, and finds Genie and Grampa Max quarreling over their very different sets of values. Grampa picks up Salem and says that life was simpler in the '50s. Guess what happens? Young Travis challenges sister Mickey's rebellious, delinquent boyfriend to a game of chicken as Genie and Grampa Max continue to argue over their values. The episode ends with Salem hitching a ride on a Harley and Sabrina following him on bicycle (which flies over the moon ala E.T.).

"Teen Angel" begins with Salem waltzing into the Beauchamp house, where he finds mother Judy griping about not being able to find a date and talking about how life was better in the '70s. Time warp! Marty realizes something's askew -- especially after seeing the family dog (who wasn't part of the Beauchamp household in 1997). Steve asks Marty to turn the dog into a man, so his mother can date a nice guy. Judy and Bob Dogman head off to the disco, right after Marty learns that the Bob will return to his real body at 11:43 pm. At the disco, Sabrina shows up and finally finds Salem, who ultimately barfs up the time ball as a result of hearing a tacky '70s song.

Life on "Teen Angel" goes back to normal, and there's flashes of the other shows -- as Hilda and Zelda go back to '97, Hilda again gripes that Zelda threw away her jeans; Corey is on the verge of re-proposing to Topanga but instead gives her a whistle ring when time goes back to normal; Genie's wrapped in tinfoil to improve TV reception and is suddenly raving about the wonders of TV in '97.

As always, it was a moronic theme night as a whole. "Sabrina" and "Teen Angel" fared best of the bunch.

Reading about this show just made me feel like I am 50 million years old. I cannot believe it's been 12 *beep* years since it was on, it still seems a bit fresh to me. Gosh I don't know what I'm going to do when shows like Friends and Frasier are on TV Land, I might just cry myself to death.

Whenever I see clowns, I always think of their relatives and how dissapointed they must be
