S05E17 Fail Safe: In new format

I was rewatching this one and came across the scene where Jack is looking at crystals just because he can or don't have anything else to do. Now I have been watching sci-fi for couple of decades and I thought it might be interesting to see how this will in new style.

The scene in question is 8 minutes in.

New format:
first eight minutes - gets converted to about 6-7 episodes. Each one containing a complete backstory in flashbacks about each character involved, including characters who are there to fix the ship. Their childhoods, likes, dislikes, love affairs, more emphasis on break ups, inter personal relationships at work. All this in hush low voices with very serious music. Each episode, nothing _really_ happens. You would just sit through and look at the characters and their lives which may be interesting to them but nothing to do with science or fiction. For good measure couple of therapy sessions will be thrown in.

the scene which lasts about 30 seconds - 1 episode - Jack would lose his humour and will become ever so serious. Will try to *talk* to Carter. Probably go in and recover from depression.

Rest 32 minutes - will be converted to about 16-18 episodes - now the focus will be on what happened. The hours (or minutes) each member of team, including people who fixed the ship, went through from when ship went on the way to the time when they went through the earth. Their tries and tribulations, the uncertainty, the counselling cost, a dozen hugs, making amends with all the people in the life and may be in the world. Nothing will happen really in each episode but you expect it will and stick through. All in hushed low voices and with music that would make you want to wonder was there ever a time when you enjoyed music *this much*.

So, network is happy - you get one whole season out of one episodes. Viewers are enlightened because they would have gotten so many insights into life of all SG personnel. Actors are happy, because they get to be creatively satisfied. All in all, world is a better place.
