The weakest part of Stargate SG-1 were,

The villains,I feel like when I watched this show My main complaint were the villains in this show.

You have the Ghoul a houled. They're just not likable...
Apophis not so memorable. in my opinion.
Anubis just the same kinda boring.
The ori just feels like a forced filler.
The REPLICATORS! Awesome for the first 5 or 6 seasons. Then the whole replicator plot-line went over to Stargate:Atlantis and is one of the main reason SG:A failed.
Way too many replicator plot-lines were just becoming less scary and little more silly.
The ancients were not villains but just a bunch of a-holes.
The wraith, fun in the first season of Atlantis, 2nd season okay. But the whole show? It became boring and lame.
The lucian alliance was a great part in SG:Universe and was awesome! Just my opinion.

I think the main problem this show had were the villains. Most of them were not memorable. Or they're just not likable. I never really felt mad or something. I loved the heroes but the villains were just kinda lame in this show. I'd say Scorpius in Farscape, or Gal Dukat in Deep Space Nine were tons better villains. They were tons more likable and epic on screen. Incredible acting too! It's unfortunate stargate didn't have the same villains.

Here are my 2 cents.

I agree that some of the villains were not very memorable. The Replicators and Aphopis got annoying after a while.

I disagree about the Goa'uld - I like Apophis, Osiris, Sokar or Nirrti as villains. Replicator Carter was creepy. I never really liked the Ori, though.

reply

I'm really not liking the Ori now I'm on season 10.

reply

The goa'uld seem all the same to me. Same voice, aphosis coming back and back. Was fun in the first few seasons, but the goa'uld was overused in this show up to season 8. And got repitive and boring in the later seasons. How many times have we actualy seen the failed attempt through the gate scene in stargate?

If I also not recall there was a villain which was named 'The destroyer of worlds' An old hag turned into a beutiful woman seasons later....

Linea was a megalomaniac, unstable, unethical scientific genius and mass murderer, known throughout the galaxy as the Destroyer of Worlds. Extremely intelligent, she developed a pathogen that wiped out an enormous number of her people. She was sent to the prison colony Hadante for her crimes, and was even feared by the other prisoners there. She remained on Hadante until SG-1, who were unjustly convicted of a crime, arrived. She reappeared to SG-1 a year later, as her younger self under the guise as Ke'ra on the planet Vyus. (SG1: "Prisoners", "Past and Present")

Goa'uld. Go-Ah-Oo-ld. Go-Ah-Oold. Gwa-Oold.

I really, really disagree with almost everything you wrote. The villains were great. Every last one of them. The Wraith lost their mojo very fast. Not a big fan of the Lucian Alliance, especially SG:Universe.

Gul Dukat never did much for me, but neither did DS9.

You have the Ghoul a houled.

Um... what?

reply

That would be a failed attempt at humor from the OP while they complain about the show.

reply

I was always more interested in the Ancients, and wished they focused more on them. That's probably why I liked SGA and seasons 9 & 10 of SG-1. I also liked the Ori the best out of all the villains, and the SG-1 Replicators the least.

reply

There were many great villains - Ba'al was the most loved character ever according to a poll that was once on this board many years ago. I also liked Adria, and Mayborne though once an a-hole, eventually grew very funny and enjoyable, especially with Jack. Agree about Apophis though, he got boring very quickly.

reply

So true about Apophis. He got boring very quickly.

reply

The problem with Apophis was that he kept coming back to life again and again and again. I felt like shouting "Put this plot thread out of it's misery!"

"You two ought to be ashamed of yourselves . . . two grown men acting like . . . grown men!!!"

reply

Oh gotta love Ba'al. It helps that he didn't always speak in the Goa'uld voice, admittedly. He was fun and different from the other Goa'uld.

reply

I thought they were all pretty interesting except for the Replicators. Especially the human replicators. They just seemed to be a copycat of The Borg.

What the heck does "ghoul a houled" mean?

Whatever it is, if they're villains they're not meant to be liked.
