Anyone buy the DVD release?

I heard the boxset only includes episodes 1-6... and then when I went to look at it on Play it says "3 episodes from the TV series" ... Is anyone who's bought this able to confirm what episodes are actually included in the "boxset?"

reply

The one that's currently available is the British release, and that only has the first three eps, apparently.

The German releases did include six episodes, spread out over three DVDs.

Hopefully Sony will see fit to release it on DVD in the US, if for no other reason than to capitalize on Naomi Watts. Not to mention that some cast members such as Abraham Benrubi have been calling for it for some time.

Anybody know if there are any more episodes rottening in Sony's media archieves or just the six that were in the German DVD release?

reply

I would if it becomes available, if only to see lovely Naomi!

reply

Yep, three more, including the final episode, "Sub Sub-Conscious," which wasn't broadcast in the US.

Abe Benrubi fans would like this one because it centers completely on his character, Vince Konefke.

I don't get why Sony's just sitting on this show. They've released shows that are even more obscure than this one. This show's got plenty of marketing spin buily into it:

--It was created by one of the guys who created "Blade";

--It has Naomi Watts, Abraham Benrubi, and the ubiquitous Bruce Greenwood.

Having seen all nine epiosdes, I really think that NBC could have had a hit on their hands if they had given it more time to take root. It was certainly no worse than any other "X-Files" imitator.

In the meantime, you might try eBay for Japanese VHS copies of the episodes.

Hi I bought a copy in Australia it is in the bargin bins for $15 AUD it contains
three double length episodes.

Which is marketing speak for lets take 6 episodes and cut out the closing credits for 3 of the episodes. And the best bit is lets stick them on three disks but each disk only contains two episodes jammed together.

The show was screened in Australia some in 2000/2001 at half past stupid in the morning (2-2.30am) and the disk only has 6 episodes. Shame it was a good show.

FOr those interested the episodes for the Australian (region4 disk) are as follows:

Disc 1 "Pilot/Something Is Buried In Bethlehem" and "Night Terrors"

Disc 2 "Forlorn" and "Counting Sheep"

Disc 3 "Eye Of The Beholder" and "A Matter Of Fax"

One of the episodes was a direct rip off of the classic sci-fi thriller "the cell" if the cell had been made before it (ah well originality in movies...)

ezyDVD is hilarious! It's currently $1.92 for the 3-Disc set .. but in a few weeks it will be back to it's retail price of $29.95 and then it will be $1.92 again! And people overseas can order it too! (They never used to be able to and probably won't be able to again, as the site keeps changing)

Nope "The Cell" (2000) Is a direct rip-off of "Counting Sheep" shot in 1997 aired in 1998. Interestingly, Counting Sheep was the the first episode that was shot and was suppose to air first. NBC threatened not to air it at all, telling writer David Goyer and Director William Malone, the episode was entirely too disturbing. The network was eventually forced to air it, because they ran out of episodes to air and needed to fill the time slot. It turned out to be the best episode IMO..

I suppose it would be too much to hope for a complete release now, even though Bruce Greenwood gets some excellent play as Captain Pike in the new Trek picture.

it's amazing to me that even though more then six did air they still didn't get even all of those in the set...
