Stephen King's book connections

One of the best things about Stephen King's books is that there are frequently connections between otherwise unrelated books. For example, two of the children from It appear in 11/22/63.

I just noticed that the old guy's name in The Shining was Richard Halloran. Wasn't Dick Halloran a friend of Mike Hanlon's father in It? Wasn't he one of the soldiers who started the Black Spot, a popular military-oriented nightclub that was run by African-American soldiers, that was burned to the ground by white supremacist jerks?

Was there ever any mention in The Shining of Halloran having served in the military? I think he told the boy what it meant to have "the shine." Was he the same Dick Halloran in It?

I intend to live forever.
So far, so good.

Yes he was the same Dick Halloran from It and The Shining. He told Danny in the book that while he was a cook in the army that he began to smell oranges and just knew his brother was killed in a train accident. He was over seas at the time and by the time he got the call through to his mama she told him about his brother passing.
