Really?

When compared to the original (Kubrick)film this is about as scary as King's Dr Sleep compared to The Shining.
And that King says he doesn't like Kubrick's version says quite a lot abot King as a film maker. Let's be honest...Kubrick's The shining is the ONLY scary King novel adapted to film.

Agree about Stephen king. While I'm amazed how prolific he's been and his incredible storytelling ability, I don't think there's much depth to his characters or stories. I think he's stubbornly attached to certain ideas of horror and can't really comprehend the complexity involved in translating books to movies. King seems to think it's a simple matter of regurgitating directly from the book.

I think King saw the work of a great and imaginative artist, became jealous and catty and futilely tried to one-up Kubrick. After the King directed movies, adaptations, etc I've seen, he should just shut the *beep* up about filmmaking and
stick to writing.

I take it you've never seen Misery?

No, really?

Really?

What a Kubrick fanboy.

A Kubrick fanboy will always have more intelligence than you.

Instead of making light of something you don't understand and proving your ignorance - why don't you simply try to reverse it?

Kubrick's film - will always be the definitive version of THE SHINING.

I disagree that Kubricks movie is the only scary movie adaptation. Pet Sematary is just as scary. And Sleepwalkers and Cujo are also excellent. Pretty much everything else sucks.
