Not scary, lacking pace & atmosphere, bad acting... God, 6 hours of it... Give me strength!!

Fully agree, so boring. I was so glad when this was finally over. The Other version of The Shining is a million times better. Sure it may not follow the book exactly, but it's a very well made movie and actually scary at times! This Shining is just dull, slow, and so damn boring. The kid was annoying as hell as well.

Sure will. I've got a real good eye for prime meat. Runs in the family. I make the best dang chili in the south. Goes great while viewing this dreadful movie too.

I was 11 when I saw this version and loved it. I have noticed that people who watched Kubrick's version first usually dislike this one and vice versa.

And I've only watched the first episode. I'm not sure I can stand watching the 3 hours more of this crap.

After suffering through this, I just wondered what King really though his novel was about. It never felt even close to what I had imagined when I read the book. And floating Tony? Room 217 was the most striking imagery, but even that turned silly.

Yuck. They can keep it.

Kubrick's film - will always be the definitive version of The Shining.
