Does it get any better?

I got the first disc of the series yesterday from netflix. I could only manage to watch about 25 minutes of the pilot before I turned it off. Horrible acting. But I am conflicted, because the premise seems like something I would really like, but I don't want to invest 12 hours in something if it continues to be as bad as what I've seen. Frankly from what I've read here on the boards, it sounds like it got worse as it went on...So I'm in a quandary.

As a comparison to let you know how my tastes run, I would consider the BBC's recent version of "Robin Hood" to be better than what I've seen of "Roar" so far, but still filled with ridiculous plots and bad acting.

Horrible acting? To what are you comparing it? I'm currently viewing the third disc from netflix (netflix is wonderful) and have been enjoying the whole series for what it was. A little bit of summer candy. It reminds me of "Robin of Sherwood" from Showtime many years ago. Give it a chance it does get better.

I'd like to see the newest RH show. I'll have to wait til it goes to DVD.

"Horrible acting" compared to a kindergarten holiday pageant. Bad direction. Stupid scripts. Awful costumes. Moronic props. Crappy set decoration. No relationship to Irish history. No relationship to reality as known to anyone who doesn't drop acid on a regular basis. Not even a good rip-off of "Young Hercules," which at least had some (minimal) camp value.

Anyone who couldn't stomach the first episode of this train wreck should save themselves the aggravation of watching any of the rest: it gets much, much, much worse! I watched this thing in first-run, and I still use it as an example of just how BAD television can be. By the last episode you'll be willing to gnaw off your own leg to get away from this foul thing.

It stars Heath Ledger, who oh-so-tragically overdosed on drugs and killed himself. Boo hoo. That doesn't make this steaming heap of dreck stink less.

Roar was awesome. As has been all of Shaun Cassidy's shows to date.

Yes, it was awful, but I loved it! Heath was so watchable.

The BBC Robin Hood is much much better. And more eye candy! Suspend your beliefs and you will enjoy your moments away from life;s drudgery -- it's entertainment!
