Five main reasons why I did not like Power Rangers Turbo

Everybody will have mixed opinions about Power Rangers Turbo.

Some people liked it. Some people disliked it.

I am one of those people who disliked the Turbo season.

Here are my five main reasons why I didn't like Power Rangers Turbo:

No build up:
The transition from MMPR to Zeo was well done, which made Zeo successful because the build-up to the new season was good. Unlike Turbo, it was like all of sudden a new season of Power Rangers with new powers, with no explanation of how they lost their original powers. I know the Turbo movie was suppose to show how the Rangers lost their Zeo powers but the movie was cut tremendously. According to reports, the original cut of the movie was 3 1/2 hours long.

Justin:
Putting a child on the show as a Power Ranger really hurt the franchise. I felt like the original and new Rangers were acting like babysitters, which made it unbearable to watch. Power Rangers was already a kid-friendly show.

Departure of Zordon and Alpha 5:
The departure of Zordon and Alpha 5 was a signal to us fans that the show was going in a different direction. I could not stand Dimitria and Alpha 6. His Rocky Balboa accent was annoying.

Departure of the original cast:
Unlike Jason, Zack and Trini's departure back in MMPR, the departure of Tommy, Kat, Tanya, Rocky and Adam (in my eyes) in the early part of the season was the beginning of the end for us fans who liked the show. The introduction of Adam, Rocky and Aisha didn't hurt MMPR because Tommy, Kimberly and Billy (the original and more popular Rangers) remained, which kept the fans watching. The "Passing of the Torch" episodes was when I stopped watching the show, completely. I felt like the producers of the show were trying to force-feed us to accept the new cast and the show's new direction.

Divatox:
I could not stand this villain! Divatox was more annoying than threatening. Why the writers gave this villain the honor in destroying the Power Chamber beats the heck out of me. Lord Zedd should have been the one to destroy the Power Chamber. And where was Lord Zedd and Rita??? They were non-existent including King Mondo. We didn't see them again until the first episode of Power Rangers in Space.

I completely agree with you about no build up and about the replacements. Other than what you mentioned about their powers suddenly being replaced, it seems like the rangers already know who Divatox is without them being introduced to her. Cutting out how the Zeo powers were lost and not having an introduction to Divatox was very stupid.
With the replacements, it was very fast. Justin only knew Zordon and Alpha 5 for a very short time before they were replaced. I think Tommy should have gotten his brother to replace him. That would have made it at least a little less crappy.

Well they lost their powers in the movie Turbo. They needed stronger powers to fight Divatox

Well they lost their powers in the movie Turbo.

I'm only replying to this in case you meant the Rangers have lost their powers by the start of the movie's events, if however you meant they lost them upon creating their Turbo powers, I agree with that so please nevermind this post.

Nothing indicated they lost their powers, we in fact see Kat attempting a morph into Zeo Ranger I Pink, only her impact into the river disrupted it. For example, the Rangers could've morphed while at the beach during the Lerigot exchange, they simply chose not to (probably in fear of what would be done to Jason and Kim). It's worth pointing out Zordon does mention "nothing" at the Rangers' current disposal could stop Maligore, "not even the zords", in spite of all of the Zeo Zords and Zeo Powers still being active at the end of the prior season. The idea I get is they 'recycle' those Zords and their Zeo powers into creating the supposedly superior Turbo arsenal.

Other than in "Forever Red" when we see Tommy morph into Zeo Ranger V Red, which for all intents may've just been 'one more/last morph' he was able to pull off with help from Haley, all indications after the Turbo movie seem to be the Zeo powers are no longer at those characters' disposal. Rocky doesn't go on as Zeo Ranger III Blue, the other four essentially retire after parting their Turbo abilities to their replacements, Adam choosing his very risky Mighty Morphin' Black power (the first Mastadon variation paralyzed in Part 1 of "Ninja Quest") instead in "Always a Chance", and Tommy's no longer able to morph at the start of Dino Thunder. The Zeo powers, while gone, seem to have been essentially 'recycled' into what became of the Turbo powers.

The really confusing part will be how Megaforce deals with the powers of the first six seasons, especially with Tommy having four ranger forms from the first four seasons at his disposal, one of which was shared with a Ranger who's instead returning as the Blue Space Ranger (T.J., the second Red Turbo Ranger). The Alien Rangers won't be a problem, those five were separate characters anyway, but the others... yeah. At most, I could see reasonably bringing back:

Tommy: Green Mighty Morphin' Ranger & White Mighty Morphin' Ranger (original Tigerzord variation), Red Zeo Ranger & Black Dino Thunder Ranger's also part of his past.
Jason: Red Mighty Morphin' Ranger (original Tyrannosaurus variation).
Kimberly: Pink Mighty Morphin' Ranger (original Pterodactyl variation).
Billy: Blue Mighty Morphin' Ranger (original Triceratops variation).
Adam: Black Mighty Morphin' Ranger (original Mastodon variation), Green Zeo Ranger's also part of his past.
Aisha: Yellow Mighty Morphin' Ranger (original Sabertooth Tiger variation).

Delphine: White Mighty Morphin' Alien Ranger.
Aurico: Red Mighty Morphin' Alien Ranger.
Cestro: Blue Mighty Morphin' Alien Ranger.
Tideus: Yellow Mighty Morphin' Alien Ranger
Corcus: Black Mighty Morphin' Alien Ranger

Kat: Pink Zeo Ranger's part of her past.
Tanya: Yellow Zeo Ranger's part of her past.
Rocky: Blue Zeo Ranger's part of his past.
Trey: Gold Zeo Ranger.

Justin: Blue Turbo Ranger.
The Phantom Ranger.

Andros: Red Space Ranger.
Zhane: Silver Space Ranger.
T.J.: Blue Space Ranger & Red Turbo Ranger
Carlos: Black Space Ranger, Green Turbo Ranger's also part of his past.
Ashley: Yellow Space Ranger, Yellow Turbo Ranger's also part of her past.
Cassie: Pink Space Ranger, Pink Turbo Ranger's also part of her past.

Divatox is an awful villain! It's such a breath of fresh air when General Havoc arrives on the scene. Sadly though, he leaves as suddenly as he arrives. Turbo was good at getting rid of good characters out of the blue, weren't they?

reply

Astronema was a breath of fresh air after Rita and Divatox.
