Hill's Escape

There's an episode where Augustus talks about escaping in a coffin and then having a friend in place at the funeral parlour to open it up and free him. At the end of series 2 (I think it's series 2 but it's definitely a final episode) he closes himself up in a coffin, but in the next episode of the next series there is no mention of it at all, not even a mention of him backing out of it. I always wondered what happened with regards to his escape?

Of all the prisoners in Oz he's the only one I would have liked to see get away. He always seemed like a decent guy who just got a bit unlucky.

I didn't sympathize for him because he was a drug dealer who killed a cop

This. lol. I couldn't even sympathize with Beecher or the idiotic Cyril for their past and present actions. they both deserved what they got minus Beecher's son and paps getting whacked.

I felt for Khan; he did not belong there. Yes, he beat the hell out of someone, but it was a man he caught in the act of raping a woman and he did not kill him. He should not have gone to prison for that. I wanted to know more about his conviction, especially if the woman testified or spoke at his sentencing hearing.

I was torn on Cyril. If he had been in Oz for things he had done before he was brain-damaged I wouldn't, but what put him there and ultimately on death row all happened after. He had the body of a very strong man and the mentality and emotions of a 5 yr old that would do anything his big brother asked.

It was still no excuse; the fact that he was still willing to kill people for Ryan and had a short temper was a residual artifact of his former self, not his broken self. Also, it's highly implied that he was Ryan's second man / enforcer who would commit the same acts as he would in prison, regardless.

A 5 year old is neurologically aware of the transience of right / wrong. His ruined brain is of no excuse.

He was just a sociopath with the mind of a child. He knew what he was doing and knew they were bad.

You start to forget why these animals are locked up and start sympathizing after seeing how the system works! Cyril's the most pathetic, but before his brain damage, he was still a thug and Ryan "right hand!" I still can't get over "old home week" with entire Ryan clan "inside;" mom working for the state!  

This was a MAJOR plot f**k. Much was written about it on the old boards but everyone seems to ignore it. My surmise was that the actor was intent on leaving the show for more money and they left this cliff hanger last scene for the season finale. If he left the series they could explain that he never made it out of the coffin but they were lax about coming up with a good storyline about his return. The producers must have coughed up the cash and he was written back into the series as if that last scene never happened. I actually bought the DVD for that season and the next one because I thought I had missed something. REALLY pissed me off.
