Okay, so did the dog die?

LOL! I enjoyed this the best of all the adaptions but what I really was looking for at the end was some sign that the dog survived. Since they did get the dog out but it was limp, I really wanted the little dog to survive. Wonder why they didn't show that or did I miss something?

I wanted to know that too. If anything, at least it probably died of smoke inhalation vs. being burned up...I guess that's some consolation? lol

The poor dog mosty certainly would have died. Everyone who survived did so improbably, having been so long in the fire. Another question left unsolved was who impregnated Carrie.

Actually - she said it was a farm hand behind some bushes.

I wish they had fast forwarded a few months so we knew his hands recovered enough to get his livelihood back - when he was holding the tool with his bandaged hand it didn't look too good!

I was wondering the same thing! I liked the last two episodes of the miniseries much more than the first (it was probably unnecessary and could have been condensed down so the whole thing was just two episodes) but I was very disappointed by the end. I thought we would have seen a sign of Millie living in the house with Robert and Sarah and at least a grave for poor little Lady (if she did in fact die).

I thought the ending on the TV series was rather ambiguous so I got the book from the Library to read up the end. The doctor's diagnosis on Millie was that her heart, which had never been strong was likely to give out any time or she could last another year. The dog Lady was badly burned but they decided to treat her rather than have her put down in case Millie asked for her. One of Robert's hands was so badly burned that it was reduced to skeletal proportions.
