Midsomer in the US - Limited

In the US I've been watching Midsomer Murders for a couple of years. They seem to show the same episodes over and over, starting with roughly Season 7, and never showing anything after Season 13. For example, I have never seen an episode with Neil Dudgeon. Does anyone in the US think I'm wrong and they actually show more? Does anyone know if they'll ever start showing the most recent five seasons?

There are some on youtube, including some of the Neil Dudgeon ones.

Do you have netflix? It starts with season 1. I started watching a couple months ago and am up to season 7 now.

Netflix has all 18 seasons. I've watched season 18 this weekend.

FWIW-- not much, I admit-- I live near Philadelphia, PA (US).

For years, MM has been televised weekly on a New Jersey Public Broadcasting Service station across the river; luckily, I get this channel on my OTA "rabbit-ear" antenna sets. For some unknown reason, Philly-area PBS stations don't carry it.

Anyway, it sounds like pretty much the same limited release you're describing.

When I first started watching, now several years back, they seemed to show the same episodes from very early seasons over and over.

Over the years, the episodes shown have crept forward in time. So they are showing "later" Tom Barnaby seasons.

I don't know the facts, but I imagine that the network is acquiring the cheapest syndication package available.

I don't much care for "Rosemary & Thyme", another UK production, but from the listings and occasionally channel-surfing into it (on the same NJ PBS station), it's the same deal: I don't know how many seasons were produced, but they keep showing the same handful of episodes over and over.

You might want to invest in Netflix. As the other commenter mentioned, they do have all of the MM seasons. And, knock on wood, they've been available for a long time-- unlike most Netflix offerings, which only last a short while.

Alvram, based on the seasons I've seen, I like what you like. One reason I'm eager to see later episodes is not that I don't like Tom Barnaby and his various DS's (I especially like Ben Jones), but I hate Joyce and her mini-me Cully.

Thanks everyone. Clearly Netflix is the way to go.

Amazon video shows all of them with a subscription for Acorn TV. It's 4.99 a month and they have all 18 seasons of Midsomer Murders. They have a big variety of British shows

Are you watching on PBS? I believe that in the US it is syndicated to individual PBS stations so it sounds like yours has only picked up a few seasons. You might contact them directly and see if you can find out what is going on.

Hi,

Yeah, I was concerned myself, found Acorn via Amazon site. Acorn has so many great BBC programs, $4.99mo is great so I have now, myself. Watching season 18 ep6 as I type, enjoy! Old Soldier Salute!
