I loved this film, I thought it was fantastic but just have a couple of points to make about the character of Athena, firstly was she that naive or did she actually think Cross was telling her the truth when he said he didn't kill Boz (her husband), I mean it seems to me she was right up until the point when he eventually confessed to her surely somewhere in the back of her mind she must have known what he did, even though she freaked when he told her like as if it was a big suprise to her, how slow can you be!!
And secondly the first time Athena and Cross meet what is with the horrible awful disgusting dress Athena's wearing, Darryl Hannah's quite a tall girl and the dress looked like a top that was just a little longer than usual and don't even get me started on the pattern on it, surely the wardrobe department on that film had something a little nicer for her to wear, cause to be honest it was not a good look on her.
And lastly I thought the scenes between Athena, Bethany (her daughter) and Cross were handled extremely well, the little girl that played that part did a great job.

So what do others think???

I have the book, and in the book not only does it make a point to note that Athena is aware of Cross being in the mafia while his sister Claudia is clueless, she all but asks him to do what he did. She was aware of what type of help she could expect from someone in the mafia. I think the movie wanted her to be more innocent than she really was.

Also wardrobe couldn't correct the choice in casting. I think the movie is very good except for Darryl Hannah as Athena. I never thought she was a good actress and she's not very pretty. Athena is supposed to be the most beautiful woman in the world, and I don't think she comes close.

I want to see this movie but don't know when it will be on TV next.

Thanks for your reply, I've never read the book, will have to get myself a copy cause a few of the posts I have come across in this message board make mention of it and it sounds as though the book far outshines the film.
Your right about the casting of Darryl Hannah also, she is not even close to being the most beautiful woman in the world like you said. There are so many actresses out there who would have fit the part so much better, who would you have chosen to play the part, I'm not sure who I would have chosen!
