How did they get Meryl Streep for "A Beer Can Damed Desire"?

Isn't football "not art"? Because it related to a subplot for the episode.

I was wondering the same thing. The only thing I can think of is that her career was (I think) at a low point, before she made a kind of comeback. Also trying the Cajun accent might of seemed challenging. Otherwise I have no idea.

Both her appearance on King of the Hill and her role as Jessica Lovejoy on The Simpsons shows she can do a voice that sounds nothing like her own :)

Maybe she just wanted to do something fun and silly. Lots of big-name stars do/did voices on the animated shows (Dustin Hoffman, Mel Gibson, Kim Basinger, etc.).

Exactly.

She is a great actress known for some pretty heavy roles. I'm sure it was fun for her to do a KOTH episode. I would guess she was already a fan.

That particular episode has maybe the most unique guest stars of any show in the history of television. Name me another show that would have had Meryl Streep, the Dixie Chicks, and "Dandy" Don Meredith..........

My topic was basically a call out for Streep's comment about sporting events like football in her Golden Globes speech and how they are "not the arts". I' sure doing the job was fun and paid decent money but my thread was just reactionary.

P.S. Is that Harrison Ford with you in your avatar?

Football may be "not art", but let us take into consideration that this is just a work of fiction. Not to mention she did this back in the Nineties, she may feel differently about this subject now than then.
