Not so bad, really...

In comparison to Buffy and Smallville, both of which were targeted towards teenagers, the Justice League of America really wasn't that bad. Sure, the action was cheesy, the costumes were dorky, and the characters weren't faithful - but neither were Buffy or Smallville, and both fared pretty well in television.

I actually like the idea of a TV show about a down-to-earth group of super heroes who battle super villains while struggling with their daily lives. The only thing the writers should have done differently is created their own original super heroes for the show, instead of having it loosely based off the Justice League.

Kind of like NBC's "Heroes", now that I think about it.

I watched about half of this on YouTube and I'm inclined to agree with you. I didn't take it seriously and enjoyed it as cheesey fun.

I didn't see it all of so I assume Batman and Superman weren't in it?

reply

No Batman, Superman, or Wonder Woman (no Aquaman either, but that's to be expected)...

Oh ok... u are joking... right?
This is a 1997 tv show... and u only must watch DeMeo and Bilson "The Flash" show any years earlier...

Sorry my bad english.

The Flash tv series came out 7years earlier and had a pretty good and acurate-ish costume. you'd think a show made years later would have a costume as good if not better.

this looked like the quality of one of those fans at comic coventions.

I don't think you can apply characters being faithful to Buffy. Just saying.
By the way, what exactly is your beef with Smallville?

reply

I find this closer to The Specials (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0181836/) personally...the little vignettes for the camera are what did it for me.

Compared to Buffy and Smallville, this sucked mightily...the acting was crap (although it was nice to see the face behind the Cryptkeeper's voice), the costumes were laughable (the guys' costumes were absolutely terrible), and the interpersonal relationships seemed forced. I did get a good laugh out of how bad it was, though, so there's that...

I thought the only characters worth watching were the Green Lantern and Dr. Eno. GL because the guy playing him was actually decent and I did kind of like his subplot of reconciling his two identities. Dr. Eno because the actor was pretty good, the scene in which he tries to win Ice over was about the only one that was competently written, and he looks like one of my professors.

It would have been okay as a Saturday morning show/TV movie aimed at little kids, but for an older audience, no. Also, a JLA movie without "The Big Three" (Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman)? I don't think so!

"When I'm good, I'm GOOD. When I'm bad, I'm BETTER."

"Not so bad, really..."?

Yes, absolutely so bad. Worse, even.

That's what I was thinking. I guess when people think the 2 girls one cup video is pure genius everything becomes "not so bad, really". Hell the Transformers made a fortune by people thinking "well they made them I have no choice but to pay to watch them"
