Top 5 Creek episodes?

1. Black Canary. Goes without saying.

2. Miracle in Crooked Lane. The JC fan club. Need I say more. Funniest episode ever.

3. Danse macabre. I liked this episode alot. Very simple but intriguing story. Of course you have to suspend your disbelief but then when don't you when watching a JC ep.

4. Mother Recap. Very atmospheric and enjoyable ep.

5. The Three Gamblers. Perhaps the darkest episode ever and the only one in which I had worked out from the beginning (near enough). Also unlike every other episode isn't completely implausible.

Honourable mention. Jack in the box.

I watched them all when they first aired but have just recently re-watched them all so the above is based on that. The only one I have yet to re-watch is 'The Grinning man'.

I'd replace 'Danse Macabre' with Jack in the Box, but agree with the rest.

Black Canary is such a good episode. It's probably an example of perfect TV.

After a recent thread on here, I re-watched The Three Gamblers last week and I have to admit that it's still one of my least favourite episodes.

The Grinning Man IMO is the darkest ever JC episode. A grisly cut throat (by BBC standards) and the bathtub murder weapon are both pretty bloody horrible ways to die.

I'd replace The Three Gamblers with The Reconstituted Corpse and Danse Macabre with The Coonskin Cap but definitely agree with Crooked Lane and Mother Redcap being in your list.

yeah I just watched 'The Grinning man'. I liked it although not as much as the others I mentioned in the OP. A minor thing, but the title of the ep wasn't really relevant was it unless it was just a red herring. It just refers to a supposedly 'evil' painting that had nothing whatsoever to do with anything. The stupid woman just decided to save a priceless painting instead of saving a human life. And then it insults our intelligence by them burning it as if it had any relevance to the story!? It was overlong (1 hour would have been enough) but I did like it and the deathtrap was quite impressive.

1. Black Canary - totally agree with the love for this, and for Mayall. Great story, with some great humour. The snow also helps an awful lot.
2. Jack in the Box - A great locked room mystery, like:
3. Danse Macabre - (Compare these two well-structured, streamlined episodes with the convoluted mess of the most recent special.)
4. Mother Redcap - Another great gothic ep.
5. Ghosts Forge, with honourable mention to The Grinning Man (which would be a great episode if it were half an hour shorter).

If I have to tell you again, we're gonna take it outside and I'm gonna show you what it's like!

1. The Reconstituted Corpse - just perfect in every way!
2. Jack in the Box - gave me nightmares at the time but so simple and great.
3. Mother Redcap - most atmospheric episode ever and I still jump when Jason turns the torch on to reveal the corpse of the barmaid.
4. The Grinning Man - despite being an hour too long and the horrific 3D porm storyline, to me this was the closest to a series one/two episode. I also love the opening couple of minutes.
5. The Three Gamblers - perhaps the most natural (i.e. not a trick/crazy elaborate plot) reveal to a puzzle ever.

I think I would agree with you, but I might replace the Three Gamblers, with the Black Canary.
