I liked season 2 the best, season 1 gave me that 'lonely' feel since Johnny was the only recurring character (and bunny). Season 2 introduced suzie,carl, and pops and was funnier.
shareYeah season 2 is soooo much more funnier. The jokes are a bit more mature, johnny is an even bigger idiot, the characters are more refined and the art style is in my opinion much better than before. Kirk Tingblad is a genius.
shareWithout a doubt, Season 2 is brilliant. The writing is much more clever, the direction superior, and the recurring characters are all much funnier.
It's interesting to compare seasons. The first season and the last batch of episodes aren't very funnn at all, but the middle stuff is genius. Most of that middle section is directed by Kirk Tingblad and one other awesome director whose name I have forgotten (sorry!). These two guys reminded me of Chuck Jones with their style of humor and expert work. On the other hand, the first and last seasons are dominated by creator Van Partible. I think it is fascinating that the show's creator is unable to make his own material work as well as people that pick up the stuff after he drops it.
I wish this show was still regularly on. This flagship show is much better than the totally bottom-of-the-barrel scrapings that Cartoon Network has been making for the past few years. I can't even look at some of those shows without feeling nauseaus.

Am i the only one who preferred the first season over the carl/pop episodes? I found them a lot funnier and I really like the 'rounder' drawing style with the soft color schemes in the first season as opposed to the angular drawing style and bright eccentric color schemes.

The reason why Season 1 has a lonely feel is because Johnny is by himself, failing at dating, which upset him. With Season 2, you get the addition of a father figure, and the addition of Johnny's Boss, which also expands his interest in martial arts.
Suzie is an original character but she was much younger in the first season.
I think that the new production design and the new animation studio had more detailed, earth toned colours and that the new character designs were more refined. The characters seemed to have larger heads with very large eyes in the first season.

Season 2 looked hideous and was definitely not as funny.
